We are currently looking for an Accountant at our Corporate Offices in Ajax, ON
The VGCA Accounting Shared Services Centre provides essential back office accounting functions for General Ledger, Inventory, Accounts Receivable and Affiliates, Accounts Payable, and Fixed Assets for multiple VW group companies including Volkswagen, Audi, Bentley, Lamborghini, factory production, and electric vehicle infrastructure.
The Company Vehicle Accountant is responsible for all accounting functions related to corporate used vehicles for Volkswagen Group of America, Volkswagen Group Canada, Audi of America, Audi Canada and ensures all activities are properly reflected in the general ledger.
Report creation and analysis is central to this role and requires the ability to provide detailed information on a regular and/or ad-hoc basis. The accountant is responsible for the accuracy of the inventory sub ledger and all subsequent sale and cost of sale postings as well as associated internal controls.

Responsibilities
- Responsible for company vehicle accounting including asset activation, depreciation, and disposal
- Responsible for the accurate recognition and allocation of all related sales transactions
- Responsible for accurate finance statements in accordance with IFRS, ensuring all assigned general ledger accounts are reviewed and reconciled regularly, including variance analysis
- Ownership of related ICFR documentation, responsible for timely updates and testing
- Management of monthly transfer of company vehicle sale to Volkswagen Financial Services and Volkswagen Credit Canada
- Analysis of fleet processes, ensuring inventory is accounted for correctly and is accurate
- Analysis and aging of repurchased inventory, ensuring inventory is accounted for correctly and is accurate
- Prepare, analysis & present a variety of reports related to inventory management, tax, risk management, financial steering
- Responsible for all related system reconciliations, ensuring that all system data is accurate and aligned
- Coordinate and steer all discussions and meetings as required for inventory management, tracking and system accuracy
- Responsible for the accurate and timely completion of all month end related tasks, including all related inventory valuation and reporting activities
- Co-ordination of monthly, quarterly, and yearly closing activities ensuring compliance with IFRS and established timetables
- Other related duties as required
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting and/ or 5 + years of accounting experience
- CPA Designation or working towards completion is an asset
- Advanced understanding of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong Communication skills –Written, oral and presentation to document, articulate and convey functions and processes.
- Strong Analytical problem-solving skills – Ability to dissect complex accounting and financial processes and identify risks and process improvements
- Strong business acumen – understanding of large, complex organizations and ability to interact with all levels of an organization.
- Strong organizational skills and works well under daily and monthly deadlines.
- Ability to lead discussions and achieve desired outcomes
- Thrives working in a highly collaborative team environment
- Working knowledge of SAP an asset
- Experience in inventory accounting is an asset
- Travel up to 5%
