THE OPPORTUNITY
RAM Iron & Metal is looking for a detail-oriented and proactive
Accountant to join our Team. The Accountant, under the direction of the Manager of Accounting will play a critical role in supporting the financial planning and decision-making processes of the organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and executing day-to-day accounting tasks, ensuring financial accuracy, compliance with regulations, and contributing to financial reporting and analysis.

Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to join our dynamic finance team in Toronto.This successful candidate requires a strong understanding of Canadian accounting principles and practices and will work alongside a group of accounting administrative professionals to achieve company goals, targets and deadlines.
Responsibilities & Accountabilites
- General Accounting:
- Manage and maintain accurate financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal entries, and general ledger reconciliations.
- Financial Reporting:
- Assist in the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Canadian accounting standards (ASPE).
- Prepare month-end and year-end closing processes, including the preparation of necessary reconciliations and journal entries.
- Prepare and reconcile financial statements, identifying trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement, and communicate findings to senior management.
- Tax Compliance:
- Prepare and file HST/GST returns, corporate income tax, and other required provincial tax filings in compliance with Ontario and federal tax regulations.
- Internal Controls and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements, including tax filings, audits, and financial disclosures.
- Provide documentation and support for internal and external audits, ensuring accurate and complete financial information.
- Cash Flow Management
- Monitor cash flow, ensuring sufficient liquidity for operations and timely payment of obligations.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA designation (CPA, CA, CMA or CGA) is preferred, but not required.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in a similar financial accounting role.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting standards (ASPE) and tax regulations.
- Advanced skills in Excel and experience with accounting software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and problem-solving skills.
- Well-developed understanding of financial principles, accounting standards, and financial regulations.
- Detail-oriented, with a high level of accuracy, the ability to manage multiple priorities to meet tight deadlines.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT
The working environment is busy and fast paced, with regular and ongoing interactions with colleagues, management, and the public at large. There may be frequent interruptions, and from time to time be noisy. The employee must have knowledge of how to manage their own personal safety under these conditions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to be able to lift up to and including 30lbs, sit and/or stand for extended periods of time and reach with arms/hands. Walking, walking up/down stairs, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving items is occasionally required.
