Hybrid Work:
This is a hybrid work position in Calgary, Alberta and requires in-person collaboration at the WestJet Campus (22 Aerial Place NE) 3 days per week. This provides flexibility the remaining 40% of the work week. This hybrid work plan allows for critically important learning, collaboration and networking with our colleagues. Specific days in the office are agreed upon by the team.
The
Specialist, Payment Services is responsible for leading initiatives for payments and receivables that drive efficiencies and improve productivity. Through regular analysis, issues impacting timeliness, quality or risk are identified and actioned for continuous improvement. This role collaborates closely with both business stakeholders and technical resources to optimize processes and project implementations. The Specialist, Payment Services is a center of excellence to support the adoption and implementation of new technology tools, techniques and practices. Although primarily focused on payables and receivables; as required, this position will support all teams under Payment Services in the pursuit of continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Leads projects and initiatives for the team. Executes on defined tasks and produces deliverables as defined. Communicates and engages all stakeholders through-out the project life cycle.
- Works with business unit stakeholders to assess readiness for successful project or change implementations. Completes gap analysis to identify deficiencies and collaborates with business unit stakeholders to resolve.
- Represents team for technology upgrades or system issues. Identifies requirements and completes UAT for new or changing functionality.
- Communicates and/or trains team on process changes resulting from implementation of projects, process or technology changes. Supports the completion of department process documentation.
- Manages a data hub for payment services (team specific), finance and business stakeholders. Works with lead to define and evolve analytical reports to support data driven business decisions.
- Completes monthly metrics reporting for all key performance indicators. Analyzes data and reports on root cause issues for targets not met.
- Builds remediation plans and works directly with impacted stakeholders to improve rates for KPI targets. Monitors and reports on performance.
- Performs qualitative, periodic testing on department process and controls adherence. Partners with leadership to review results/refine processes to reduce risk profile.
- Contributes information and expertise to Payment Services leadership team by keeping current with relevant trends, systems and IT developments. Advocates and endorses innovation that will support productivity and efficiency.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related, and or a CPA Designation;
- Project Management; Level 1 PMP Certified; preferred.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in full cycle Accounts Payable, Receivable and Vendor Master Data;
- Working knowledge of large ERP systems; JDE, SAP or similar;
- Experience in automating processes and introducing best practices;
- Proven ability in identifying and implementing process change;
- Advanced proficiency with data management, analytics and reporting (excel/Power BI);
- Solid business acumen, judgement, critical thinking in complex problem solving;
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
