Reporting to the CEO, the incumbent will be responsible for the following functions:
Qualifications:
- Manages all financial operations of CMHA and the Community Health Centre which includes:
- Compliance with all legislative requirements, Board policies and procedures, funding body criteria and professional standards.
- Monitors financial results and expenditures by using variance analysis, forecasting methodologies and comparison to the fiscal budget.
- Develops computer models for revenue and expenditure forecasting, monthly accruals, variance analysis and budget monitoring
- Performs in-depth system analysis of all accounting documents and functions, including verifying appropriate data transfers between systems (i.e. Inventory, payroll, human resources, etc.) and initiates and aids in the development of improved systems.
- Conducts cash flow analysis and maintains banking contacts for effective stewardship of accounts and investments.
- Ensures accounts are reconciled on a monthly, quarterly or as needed basis, for audit and control purposes.
- Conducts periodic audits to ensure accuracy and efficiency of finance and accounting systems, records and processes
- Develops the annual CAPS submission, manages the financial component of the MSAA
- Develops and amends policies and procedures for the organization as required to meet funder and agency requirements.
- Serves as the staff resource with the Chief Executive Officer on the Finance and committee of the board to provide information and reports for informed decision making.
Ensures financial planning and reporting requirements are in accordance with funding
Education required:
- Business degree majoring in accounting or finance, a professional designation or the equivalent education and experience.
- Related Experience: Substantial recent & relevant experience, (minimum of five years) in a financial management position working at the senior management level. Experience in the public or not-for-profit sector and in a unionized environment will be considered an asset. Experience managing facilities and information systems would be an asset.
- Valid drivers licence and access to a vehicle
- Preference will be given to a qualified candidate who is proficient in both official languages.
Hours of Work: 28-35 hours/week operating between 8:30am-5:00pm. Flexible hours are required to meet the position requirements
Salary: Commensurate with experience, inclusive of HOOPP.
