We are accepting applications for a Bookkeeper to work as part of our accounting team. The successful candidate will have the ability to represent our company in a professional manner; and clearly and effectively communicate with colleagues, owners and tenants. The ability to thrive in a fast paced environment with changing demands while maintaining a high level of organization and accuracy is a must. Experience in property management or real estate is an asset.
Your roles and responsibilities will include:
Processing and paying vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner to meet deadlines
Billing maintenance staff hours
Rent collection and accounts receivable including follow up on overdue accounts
Preparation and reconciliation of deposits and electronic payments
Issuing tenant rent receipts on request
Explaining rental property income, expenses and cash flow to property owners
Collaborate with other departments (maintenance, leasing) to streamline property management operations
Account set up for new management clients
Processing lease financials for new tenancies
Closing of lease financials at the end of tenancy
Communication with tenants and property owners, via email and phone
Maintaining computerized filing system
The right candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:
1+ years of Bookkeeping / Accounting experience with a small / medium sized company;
Post-secondary education in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration;
Possess strong understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable/receivable principles;
1+ years of experience with QuickBooks or other accounting software, and knowledge of Google Workspace;
Experience with Landlord Tenant Board procedures is considered an asset;
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion;
Exceptional problem-solving and critical thinking skills;
Excellent communication skills in English (telephone, email and in person);
Self-starter with ability to work independently and in a collaborative environment;
Superior organizational skills; ability to anticipate needs within the accounting cycle, prioritize and multitask among competing demands;
Meticulous attention to detail;
This is a full time position (40hr per week) Monday - Friday from 9:00am - 5:00pm.
The successful candidate will be required to provide a Criminal Record check (to include Vulnerable Sector check) at their expense as a condition of employment.
