RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
Role overview
We are looking for a staff accountant, who is eager to contribute to and learn from our growing team. This individual will work on compilation, audit and review engagements, corporate and personal tax returns, independently and as part of small teams of accounting rock stars. Our clients come from all industries and in all sizes. This breadth of the client base requires a solid command of accounting, assurance and tax fundamentals. This variety can be challenging for some, but for the right person it opens doors to constant learning, personal growth, and a rewarding career.
We have laid out some of the performance expectations below but, to be honest, the sky is the limit – if you find a way to make the firm better – just do it!
Performance Expectations
· Preparing compilation engagements for companies in a variety of industries;
· Assisting on audit and review engagements for companies in a variety of industries;
· Preparing corporate tax returns;
· Preparing personal tax returns;
· Managing own schedule to ensure client reporting deadlines are met;
· Creating time efficiencies and managing multiple deadlines;
· Contributing to our positive team dynamic with all levels of staff and management;
· Developing respect-based relationships with clients and team members.
Credentials
· Undergraduate degree with a specialization in accounting;
· Minimum of 1 full year of Canadian public accounting experience (or 2 full co-op terms);
· Strong knowledge of personal and corporate Canadian income tax rules;
· Strong working knowledge of Caseware, TaxPrep (or Profile), and Excel;
· Strong financial acumen and analytical agility;
· Detail-oriented, organized and able to meet tight deadlines;
· Self-motivated, results-driven, prefers to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment;
· Proven prioritization, time management and project management skills;
· Effective written and verbal communication skills;
· Strong interpersonal and client service skills and an ability to build strong client relationships;
· Strong belief that accounting can be fun.
