Summary
The General Accountant is a key member of the finance and accounting team working directly with the CFO and Director of Finance to support strategic initiatives to aid in the future growth of the company. This is a hands-on multifaceted role where you will be involved in all aspects of the business, and you can directly share your experience and knowledge to make a difference.

Job Duties
- Financial Reporting: Lead the month-end and fiscal year-end close processes Prepare and review accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, in accordance with GAAP or IFRS.
- Account Reconciliation: Oversee and perform regular reconciliations of general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Audit Coordination: Coordinate and assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations for financial data.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop and manage budgets, perform variance analysis, and prepare financial forecasts to support strategic planning.
- Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations. Prepare and review tax returns and manage tax-related issues.
- Financial Analysis: Conduct detailed financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of financial reporting and accounting procedures.
- Team Supervision: Mentor and supervise junior accounting staff, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality work and professional development.
- Accounting Systems Management: Manage and maintain accounting systems, ensuring data integrity and implementing system upgrades as needed.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards, and stay updated on changes in accounting policies and regulations.
- Supporting finance leadership in implementing a continuous improvement program, special projects and system integrations.
- Establish sound accounting/business practices, ensuring other business systems/units are properly aligned with the financial records.
- Oversee the collection and analysis of financial data.
- Supervise Accounts Payable processes.
REQUIREMENTS
Education/Experience
- CPA (Canada) designation or actively enrolled in the CPA Certification Program.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Accounting: 5-7 progressive years of accounting/finance experience.
Skills
- Strong Organization skills and attention to detail are a MUST – This is part of your nature!
- Advanced knowledge of Excel and Word.
- Fluent in English and able to communicate with external and internal teams effectively
- Strong problem-solving skills with a positive energy and attitude

Working Conditions
- Hybrid: 3 days in office and 2 days remote.
- Capacity to attend and conduct meetings, both virtual and in person.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
