Overview
KMA Chartered Professional Accountants is seeking a bright, outgoing individual to join our team in the role of Account Manager. We are looking for a full-time individual, with a minimum of three years public practice experience. The ideal candidate should be a recently qualified individual or a recent CFE writer.
This position starts immediately.
KMA requires a well-rounded individual who can engage with our clients in order to provide service that exceeds their expectations. This is a position for an outgoing, client service-driven person. You should be a person who enjoys working with clients and others. The ideal candidate should possess strong technical skills, have the ability to manage his/her own time and he or she must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and written.

The successful candidate should possess the following skills and experience:
- The ability to review other's work and provide thoughtful feedback to ensure that the file meets the firms’ objectives.
- A proven track record of coaching and mentoring junior staff. This role will have a significant supervisory and coaching component.
- The ability to oversee the completion of Compilation and Review Engagements from beginning to conclusion. If necessary, complete the file as required.
- The ability to complete all related tax filings from T4’s, T5’s and personal tax returns.
- A familiarity with CCH’s iFirm is an asset.
- An ability to work in a paperless office. The ideal candidate should be familiar with common industry software such as Caseware, Taxprep and how to produce financial statements in Caseview. KMA uses the Jazz-it suite. We are in the process of moving to Caseware Compreview. (Caseware’s cloud product)
- The proven ability to work with QuickBooks Online.
- The ability to work independently towards goals
- The ability to complete corporate tax returns
- Perform basic tax planning.
- Proven strengths in using Excel and a wide variety of accounting programs
- The ability to effectively build lasting relationships with the firm’s clients

Firm Background
KMA Chartered Professional Accountants is a growing local Nanaimo area CPA firm currently located in Lantzville. The firm will be relocating to a new permanent location in North Nanaimo in the next few months.
The office has a wide variety of clients, covering manufacturing, services and numerous industry types. The office provides a rich learning environment for students as they are exposed to different clients, a variety of industries and numerous opportunities to learn. In addition to Canadian taxation, the firm also has a significant US tax practice.
As a member of the team, you become involved in a wide variety of work, from the audit of companies and societies, to tax planning and preparation. You will help clients on a wide variety of issues ranging from tax planning to succession planning.
Work From Home
KMA already has a number of team members that either work remotely full time, or on a hybrid (Home/Office) basis. This is negotiated on a person by person basis.
