Job Summary:
Octane Bio Tx is seeking a skilled accountant with experience in international accounting practices to spearhead the transition of the accounting operations from Germany to Canada. This role requires an understanding of both German and Canadian accounting principles, regulations, and tax laws. The ideal candidate will possess strong project management skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across international teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the transition of accounting functions from Germany to Canada, ensuring seamless integration and compliance with local regulations
- Analyze current accounting processes and identify areas for improvement in the transition process
- Co-ordinate with international teams to gather necessary financial data and ensure accurate transfer of records
- Prepare financial statements and reports in accordance with Canadian accounting standards
- Collaborate with legal and tax advisors to ensure compliance with Canadian tax laws and regulations
- Provide training & support to local finance teams in Canada on new processes and systems
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities as needed

Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
CPA Certified
Knowledge of German GAAP and Canadian GAAP
3-5 years of demonstrated experience in accounting
Preferred Training/Certification:
Accounting experience in international transitions
Ability to communicate effectively (both written & oral) in German
Experience with ERP systems; knowledge of SAP would be helpful
Note: International travel may be required periodically
