Scope of Work
- Maintain, analyze and reconcile GL accounts, prepare supporting financial documentation for month-end, quarter-end and year-end reporting
- Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries into book of accounts; document business transactions
- Assist with special projects as required
- Ensure adherence to standardized processes and procedures related to financial reporting
- Assist with requests of internal/external auditors
- Monthly bank reconciliation preparation
- Maintain prepaid schedules and prepare expense journal entries as required
- Track capital asset and asset set up and maintain continuity schedules
- Maintain loan receivable and loan payable schedule and post required interest charges.
- Account for intercompany transactions and loans
- Preparation and filing of HST remittances
- Analysis and posting of monthly accruals; monthly reconciliation of credit card accounts
- Assist in the preparation and analysis of annual financial budgets and monitor actual performance against budgets
- Prepare ad-hoc reporting and analysis as required
- Ensure adherence to all accounting and finance policies and procedures
- Assist with the coordination of year-end audit file preparation
- Other tasks as required
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with SAP is required
- BA/Diploma in accounting, finance or a related field
- Professional Accounting designation (CPA, CMA, CGA) is preferred
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar accounting position
- Complete knowledge and practical experience of full accounting cycle
- Sound knowledge and experience of IFRS accounting, financial planning, budgeting & forecasting and financial reporting
- Strong analytical skills with an ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and customers
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
- Thorough knowledge of requirements regarding financial recording and record retention
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts
- Able to work well under pressure, multitask and meet deadlines
- Strong organizational, time management and prioritizing skills
- Self-starter with proactive approach and problem-solving skills
- Results oriented
