Reports to: Controller
Location: 5920 MacLeod Trail SW, Calgary, Alberta
Type: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:45 pm, flexibility required
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Clerk is responsible for maintaining and reconciling resident accommodation and trust accounts, following proper accounting procedures, while adhering to Intercare’s vision of being “The Heart of Excellence.”
Qualifications:
- Graduate of a post-secondary program in Administration/Accounting.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
- Strong problem solving and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and also to work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong computer skills, accuracy.
- Two years’ experience in a related field.
- High level of confidentiality.

Accountable for maintaining accurate resident’s account information
Expectations
1. Maintaining resident census information.
2. Manually recording resident admissions, discharges and room moves.
3. Entering and maintenance of information in resident demographics.
Ensuring the rights of privacy and confidentiality are respected.
4. Meeting deadline for month-end census reporting to Head Office.
5. Ensuring appropriate individuals have requested resident reports.
Accountable for processing of accommodation billing and payments
Expectations
1. Entering in accounts receivable new and discharged resident information
2. Responsible for processing all residents’ accommodation payments to appropriate accounts.
3. Processing bi-weekly hairdressing charges.
4. Processing monthly handi-bus charges.
5. Responsible for preparation, processing and stuffing of monthly invoices.
6. Monthly reporting of accommodation accounts.
7. Monthly collection letters and phone calls.
8. Preparing and taking bank deposits.
9. Accommodation refunds.
10. Communication with residents and families.
Accountable for maintaining Resident fund accounts
Expectations
1. Responsible for processing residents trust withdrawals.
2. Processing resident trust deposits.
3. Processing resident’s monthly accommodation trust draws.
4. Responsible for processing resident phone, cable, and subscription etc. payments.
5. Monthly trust account bank reconciliations.
6. Preparing and taking bank deposits.
7. Ensuring appropriate individuals have reporting.
8. Trust account refunds.
Accountable for coverage and assistance for the accounting clerk A/P
Expectations
1. Assistance in performing accounts payable, payroll for absent or vacation relief.
2. Performs other duties as assigned.
Accountable for Safety
Expectations
1. Performs all duties in a safe and efficient manner and maintains work area in a clean, orderly and safe condition.
2. Reports unsafe, hazardous working conditions and any equipment malfunctions to Director.
3. Understands and adheres to health and safety responsibilities as outlined in the corporate health and safety policy.
4. Understands and adheres to fire responsibilities as outlined in the corporate fire response manual.
