Over the past two years, the firm has completed over $150M of transactions with the intention of creating a $1B+ public entity real estate fund over the next 2-3 years. By working with government leaders, and by partnering with our sponsors and lenders, the company’s vision is to create 10,000+ residential units with a focus on tackling the affordable housing crisis in North America. Junior Accountant
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Accountant to join our finance team. The Junior Accountant will assist in various accounting tasks, including but not limited to, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, and financial report preparation. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing period-end journal entries, financial statements and supporting working papers
- Reviewing monthly property management reports and preparing reconciliations to ensure accuracy of rent collected, fees charged, and cash received
- Other admin and miscellaneous tasks required by the accounting team
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions accurately and in a timely manner.
- Reconcile bank statements and other financial documents.
- Assist with weekly treasury management & expense tracking
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's/College degree in Accounting, Finance, or any related field.
- CPA candidate is preferred, but not essential.
- 0-2 years of experience in accounting or finance role preferred, but recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks).
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work under tight deadlines.
- Strong eager to learn.
- Term: Full-time, permanent. Starting end of July. Travel 15%
Compensation:
- Base Pay Range: $40,000-$50,000 CAD depending on experience
- Bonus package of up to ~10% of base pay
- Standard benefits package
