Role Description:
As a Senior Accountant at ITN Food Corporation, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the financial health and integrity of our organization. This full-time, on-site role is based in Vaughan, Greater Toronto Area, Canada. You will oversee and execute a range of accounting functions to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with regulatory standards. Your responsibilities will include preparing and presenting financial statements and reports, managing month-end and year-end closing procedures, performing detailed reconciliations of accounts and balance sheet entries, and supporting audit processes. Additionally, you will ensure compliance with federal and provincial regulations, conduct financial analysis and forecasting, and collaborate with various departments to drive financial performance and support strategic objectives.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Oversee full cycle accounting duties including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, and bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
- Prepare, analyze, and present financial statements and reports in accordance with regulatory standards and organizational policies.
- Supervise payroll processes to ensure timely and accurate disbursements and compliance with employment laws.
- Monitor and manage cash flow to support financial operations and strategic planning.
- Execute and oversee month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and internal regulations.
- Collaborate with departments on financial planning, budgeting, and decision-making.
- Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Perform and reconcile account and balance sheet entries.
- Provide insights and recommendations for management reporting.
- Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the General Ledger.
- Develop and maintain financial transaction systems, including a comprehensive chart of accounts.
- Manage and archive historical financial records systematically.
Qualifications:
- 5-7 years of accounting experience, preferably in food manufacturing or distribution.
- In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and financial regulations.
- CPA designation or progress towards certification is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proficiency in financial reporting, account reconciliation, and audit management.
- Experience with month-end closures and regulatory compliance.
- Skills in financial analysis and forecasting.
- Advanced proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Spire, QuickBooks, SAP/Microsoft Dynamics) and MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
