Role Summary
The Sr Accountant is responsible for planning, organizing, and administrating accounting activities associated with maintaining the General Ledger including management of the subledgers. This role will work closely with the Finance, and Supply Chain Business Partners, however, interacts with all departments to empower partnership with Finance to ensure compliance, efficiency, and accuracy.
This role is based out of Carlsberg Brewery in Kitchener, with periodic travel to our Oakville office
Hybrid: 3 days in the office/ 2 days from home.
Accountabilities:
- Perform & Execute month-end journal entries.
- Perform & Execute month-end accrual analysis to support finance business partner.
- Perform & Execute Account reconciliations.
- Perform and Support Inventory Reconciliations
- Support Year-end with Auditors
- Perform & Execute Statistics Canada reporting.
- Assist with Statistical Data journal entries.
- Support Purchase order process (training) and closing of old purchase orders.
- Support timely payments of vendor payments to avoid product interruptions.
- Support business personal expense review and processing
- Automate existing processes to drive innovation and efficiency.
- Collaborate closely with Supply Chain operational partners to collectively drive business results.
- Assist in reviewing and signing of supplier payments.
- Evaluate and recommend improvements to financial systems and processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in manufacturing finance.
- Support and maintain Carlsberg Compliance training and Accounting Guidelines
- Be an integral part of the Accounting Teams.
Qualifications:
- A University/College degree in accounting, along with a professional accounting designation such as CPA, or actively working towards obtaining one.
- 3-5 years relevant experience in accounting and at least 1 year of leadership experience.
- Must have a strong understanding of cost accounting principles and supply chain management concepts.
- Expert knowledge in Microsoft Office (specifically Excel)
- Results-driven, self-starter with an innovative mindset.
- Demonstrated planning, leadership, and time management skills.
- Exceptional analytical and attention to detail skills
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Ability to interact with all members of the extended finance team to work towards the core principles of the department.
- CPG Experience preferably within Food and Beverage industry
- Experience in the manufacturing environment
- Hands-on experience with accounting databases and systems (MS Dynamics Business Central & Jet Reports experience would be an asset)
