Axiom Industrial Solutions Inc. is a well-established, market leading industrial contractor in search of an Experienced Corporate Controller.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- This position manages the performance of the 5 employees [ AR associates, AP Associates, Payroll
- Monthly Financial reporting and analysis of the Consolidated Financial Statements (note there are 5 companies that are to be consolidated)
- Prepare monthly Covenant calculations based on the Consolidated Financial Statement
- Prepare Bank Compliance reports
- Responsible for income and excise taxes remittances.
- Prepare and/or supervise the preparation of year-end audit files and be the lead contact for external auditors.
- Weekly cash management, AP, AR, monthly general ledger reporting
- Oversee the Project Cost Accountant and reporting of negatively tracking projects.
- Prepare annual budgets with the collaboration of the stakeholders and report variances with justification or solution on a quarterly basis. Banking submits reports as required by Lenders
- Responsible for monitoring bank activity on a daily basis focus on Fraudulent activities
- Serves as administrator of online banking systems for payments of wires, EFTs and cheque signing authority.
- Responsible for approval of payments to creditors and suppliers
- Issues and approves electronic funds transfers.
- Reviews Accounts Payable cheques for vouchering accuracy and invoice authorization and signs cheques as first signer.
- Issues National Account Summary report on monthly basis, tracking actual versus forecasted sales, and rebates issued to date.
- Responsible for the hiring, training, disciplining and developing all direct reports.
- Liaises with all levels of sales and marketing personnel for issues related to vendor contracts.
- Reconciles and analyzes general ledger accounts
- Investigates and resolves discrepancies and problems
- Calculates and records adjusting entries as required
- Responsible for year-end close
- Performs procedural audits for efficiency and achievement of company objectives
- Evaluates operational processes and internal controls, pointing weak areas and suggesting corrective measures.
- Communicates and prepares information for auditors
- Corresponds with bankers when necessary.
- Serves as a company resource for taxation matters including consumption and corporate income taxes (Canada and the United States).
Qualifications:
- Must have a CPA designation.
- Preferable a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, or minimum of 7 years accounting experience at the management level.
- Must have experience working with Jonas Construction Software
- A thorough knowledge of accounting principles and practices is required.
- Must demonstrate strong business skills related to managing and leading teams, analyzing and interpreting financial statements and company metrics, critical thinking skills, excellent attention to detail and ability to interact with high integrity and confidentiality at all levels of the organization.
- Must have an advanced understanding of Excel spreadsheets and formulas.
