The Opportunity
As a Jr Accountant, you will report directly to the Controller and work closely with our entire business and finance team. You will focus on accounting, control, reporting, planning, and budgeting of business operations. The position requires an appreciation for entrepreneurship without large corporate infrastructure.
NOTE: This will be a 1 year contract with strong potential to become permanent full time.
What You’ll Do
- Support purchasing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, systems and processes to ensure the integrity of transactions in compliance with policies, guidelines and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Perform month-end, quarter-end and year-end financial analysis of results against budget/forecast
- Conduct account analysis, physical inventory control, internal controls, including, forecasting/ budgeting including capital and fixed assets
- Evaluate transactions and record to the general ledger to ensure financials are accurate and complete
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations and income statement analysis
- Conduct ad hoc analysis of reporting requests from various departments and stakeholders
- Conduct basic to complex process and data analysis for integration and automation of business processes
- Support the development and tracking of key business metrics
Who You Are
- Post-secondary degree in business administration, finance, commerce or accounting
- Pursuing CPA is preferred
- Knowledge of GAAP
- Demonstrated knowledge of financial transactional activities including accounting, revenue and expenditure control, ERP systems, internal control principles and financial management practices.
- Demonstrated experience using advanced MS Excel, creating complex worksheets including macros and pivot tables
- Ability to make sense of ambiguity
- Exceptional attention to detail and is a fast learner
- Ability to juggle competing demands to meet tight deadlines
- Demonstrated interpersonal competence including reliability, consistency, flexibility and adaptability in day-to-day interactions
