Reporting to Assistant Manager - Finance & Accounting, the Accounting Specialist will support the accounts payable process.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Enter high-volume of invoices with strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ensure invoices are matched to the correct purchase order including quantity and price considerations
- Resolve issues associated with the processing of invoices. Work closely with suppliers and buyers.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Check supplier statements and reconcile them with our AP records.
- Communicate with suppliers regarding payment inquiries, discrepancies, and account details on time
- Manage weekly payment run. Process cheques, wires, EFT, and ACH payments
- Review and approve employee expense reports through Concur
- Generate reports related to accounts payable activities
- Process month-end close, including accruals and reconciliations
- Adhere to relevant accounting standards and regulations
- Assist with audits as needed
- Other ad-hoc assignments from the manager
Minimum Requirements
- College Diploma or bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred).
- 1- 3 years of accounts payable experience
- Experience in using accounting software (preferably Oracle ERP and SAP Concur) systems is an asset.
- Proficiency in Excel
- Solid knowledge in full cycle accounting and accounts payable best practices.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent Problem solving and critical thinking.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- High level of integrity and ethics
Travel (not required)
Work Arrangement - Hybrid (work from office at least 2 days a week)
Normal or frequent minor physical effort required for the day-to-day activity in the workplace. Involves mainly sitting at desk and performing computer work. May involve standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs and lifting/moving/using objects or equipment up to 5kg/11lbs
