Job Description
The Accounts Payable Specialist will be responsible for the day-to-day accounts payable transactions including timely and accurate processing of invoices, managing vendor relationships and maintaining financial records. Based in Toronto, this role reports to the Manager, Accounts Payable, with a primary focus on Canadian multi-family operating properties.

Main responsibilities include processing invoices, validating invoice coding and approvals, and matching to purchase orders.

Track and management payment schedules to ensure payments are processed promptly via checks, bank wire transfers or EFTs.

Communicate with vendors regarding payment inquiries and issues

Collaborate with property managers, property administrators, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely management of payment obligations.

Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.

Assist with month end and year end closing, ensuring invoices are closed or matched to a purchase order.

Build and maintain relationship with internal stakeholders and external vendors.

Identify and research outstanding invoices
Qualifications:
-
1-2 years of successful experience in an accounts payable position

Knowledge of basic accounting (debit and credit, journal entries, accruals, etc.)

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel

Knowledge of D365 and Yardi is preferred but not required

Strong attention to detail

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Self-motivated and demonstrates good work ethic and a willingness to learn

Ability to work independently, taking ownership of work product and completing work within specified deadlines
