Sierra Supply Chain Services is on the search for an Accountant - Intermediate to join us at our Hamiltonfacility on a 14-month contract (Maternity Coverage)
Location: 90 Glover Road - Hamilton
Contract Details: Full-time, 14 months in length
Wage: $32-$36/H + 4% Vacation pay
About the role :
The Accountant - Intermediatewill be responsible for supporting the Finance team in executing the day-to-day Finance operations of Sierra Cold. Specifically, Accountant - Intermediatewill support the Finance Manager with ongoing compliance activities, including reporting, audit and management of the Company’s books and records. The Accountant - Intermediate will be responsible for Accounts Payable/Receivable, month-end, quarter-end processing, and year-end close reconciliations including ad hoc projects.
Your Day to Day:
- Accounts Payable/Receivable function and administration. Including corporate expenses, A/P, A/R.
- Assist in researching, tracking, and resolving discrepancies.
- Prepare, balance and complete cheque runs for various vendors.
- Maintain various records, spreadsheets, and documents.
- Prepare financial statements and notes.
- Assist with month-end, year-end financial close process to ensure accuracy and completion.
- Complete journal entries, balance sheet preparation, and reconciliations.
- Prepare GST/HST returns for filing with the government.
- Support financial processes, P&L and balance sheet reviews, weekly cheques and wires review and approvals.
- Assist in audits, preparation of audit work papers and year end audit packages.
- Provide and ensure accuracy of coding for all payables; ensure proper supporting documents are attached and that departmental approval is provided.
- Adhere to all policies and follow established procedures.
- Assist in the quarterly/annual reporting, where required.
- Assist in the annual budgeting, where required.
Required Skills/Experience:
- 2+ years of Accounting/Finance experience, preferably within a warehousing/logistics environment.
- Good written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Good customer service skills providing prompt and courteous support.
- Strong problem solving and trouble shooting skills allowing for efficient and effective identification of problems and the ability to apply appropriate solutions.
- Computer literacy, including MS Word, Excel (intermediate), Outlook.
- Must be reliable, pro-active, and attentive to details.
- Good time management skills - know how to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Good interpersonal and relationship building skills.
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
- Able to maintain confidential information.
Academic/Education Requirements:
- Post-secondary education in Accounting or a relevant field.
Working towards a CPA or an additional Certification and/or Designation is an asset
