The Role:
We are looking for a Staff Accountant who is detail-oriented and deadline driven to join our Finance department!
Responsibilities:
- Prepare bank reconciliation, prepaid expenses, capital assets, accrued expenses schedules, FX adjustments, reconciliations and other schedules needed in the preparation of month-end and year-end financial statements and posts related journal entries.
- Understand balances in GL accounts to form a solid reporting foundation and ensure compliance with GAAP.
- Updating, reviewing, and reconciling FX rates.
- Support posing to loan ledger detail to the general ledger and troubleshooting.
- Preparation of various accounting transactions, including prepaids, accruals, inter-company transactions, recurring journal entries etc.
- Ensuring vendor accounts are set up accurately and invoices are entered and paid in a timely manner to maintain good vendor standing.
- Vendor invoice processing including verification of accuracy coding multi-currency invoices & intercompany costs, obtaining appropriate authorizations.
- AP management including preparing month end AP (Accounts Payable) invoice accrual listing and timely reconciliations.
Qualifications
- Post secondary education in accounting or equivalent
- CA/CPA designation or actively working towards CPA designation preferred.
- Experience with general ledger systems preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly in Excel, and data analytics.
- Detail-oriented and deadline driven with a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining high quality work.
- Strong Analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work with large amounts of data: sorting, subtotaling, and reconciling.
- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- 2+ years' working experience using flexibility, initiative, good judgement and discretion with a pride of ownership over assigned responsibilities.
- 2+ years' experience working under pressure and meeting deadlines, in a fast-paced and dynamic professional environment.
