Summary
We are looking for a detail-oriented senior accountant to perform and coordinate accounting duties within our organization. The senior accountant's responsibilities include preparing financial reports, performing account reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger, preparing tax returns, assisting with audit preparations, and performing other accounting duties as assigned.
To be successful as a senior accountant, you should have a solid working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and strong analystical skills You should also have strong Excel skills, be detail-oriented, highly organized, ability to meet targets and deadlines, and effectively work both independently and within a team environment, with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
- Coordinating accounting functions and programs.
- Preparing various financial analyses and reports, including job cost audits.
- Preparing revenue projections and forecasting expenditure.
- Assisting with preparing and monitoring budgets.
- Review the biweekly payroll in ADP and acting as back up as required.
- Maintaining and reconciling balance sheet and general ledger accounts.
- Assisting with annual audit preparations.
- Investigating and resolving audit findings, account discrepancies, issues of non-compliance and audit findings.
- Preparing federal, state, local, and special tax returns.
- Contributing to the development of process and procedure documentation.
- Supporting Junior staff, and performing other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
- Professional accounting designation.
- 6+ years of accounting experience.
- Working knowledge of tax laws and GAAP.
- Working knowledge of Payroll, experience with ADP an asset.
- Experience using INFOR Clouded ERP system is an asset.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office and other productivity software
- Ability to train and mentor staff.

Working Conditions
- Hours of Work: Monday to Friday (8:30am – 5pm)
- Ability to stand/walk for up to 8 hours each day.
- Ability to lift up to 20lbs independently.
