JOB TITLE:
Assistant Manager, Accounting
ABOUT US:
We are a climate controlled Japanese Automotive Parts Manufacturer in the St. Thomas, ON region and are seeking a highly motivated, energetic, and qualified Assistant Manager, Accounting, to assist with fulfilling the roles and responsibilities pertaining to the management of all facets and functions of Accounting at our facility.
Reporting directly to the Accounting Manager, the successful incumbent will be required to assist with managing, leading, and providing functional and specialized accounting support, assist with overseeing the Company’s accounting systems, provide financial statements, report and summaries to the Senior Management Team, and provide departmental support through the execution of other related duties. The candidate will also aid in ensuring that all activities and operations within the accounting facets comply and conform with all regulatory requirements, accounting related principles, and conform to the main targets of the Company.
We are looking for someone who is knowledgeable about all Accounting related disciplines, and who can work independently to build and maintain appropriate programs, policies and provide specialized accounting support. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in an accounting related role, demonstrated managerial ability, possess and/or working towards a professional accounting designation (CGA or CMA), and have experience applying these skills within a manufacturing environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Reports to the Manager, Accounting on a daily basis
2. Works with Sr. MGT Team to set long-term goals and strategies
3. Continually improves the systems and processes pertaining to the accounting function and performance to contribute to company success
4. Encourages communication, consultation, and collaboration with employees, Customers, Suppliers, and public stakeholders
5. Holds the Accounting Team accountable for following GAAP principles
6. Oversees and manages the work of subordinates in accounting related roles and disciplines
7. Maintains / stays abreast on applicable legislation and guidelines
8. Assists in the development and implementation of related policies and procedures
9. Assists with achievement of annual Accounting related performance targets
10. Assists with completion of month end reporting processes
11. Performs Bank reconciliations
12. Assists with overseeing the collection of all A/R
13. Assists with overseeing timely payment of all A/P
14. Assists with preparation of weekly cash flow information
15. Assists with reconciliation of month end and year-end inventory counts
16. Assists with maintenance of fixed asset schedule / depreciation schedule
17. Aids in initiatives pertaining to various special projects pertaining to process improvements, cost reduction strategies, etc.
18. Assist with development of budgets
19. Assists with performing reconciliation and running of Production Control reports at month end
20. Assists with preparing and facilitating year-end review with accounting firm
21. Assists in the preparation of month end financial reports for the Management Team
22. Conducts GST reporting
23. Assists in overseeing all Government related reporting as required
24. Assists with the management of foreign currency trade
25. Tracks and reconciling monthly budgets
26. Develops policy and procedures pertaining to Accounting System
27. Other related duties
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Professional Accounting Designation required (CGA or CMA) (or working towards completion)
2. Minimum 5+ years’ experience working in an accounting related role within a manufacturing environment, preferable automotive
3. Demonstrated management and leadership skills is essential
4. Understanding of all applicable legislation related to all facets of Accounting principles and guidelines
5. Knowledge of Sage Intacct and ADP Workforce Now systems preferred
6. Experience working with confidential and controlled documents
7. Experience with Purchasing and understanding of related terminology and procedures is considered an asset
8. Strong initiative skills with an ability to multi-task to handle multiple priorities
9. Proven leadership skills with experience working in a team / self-starter with excellent language and communication skills, who pays attention to accuracy and detail
10. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required with an ability to communicate to a group
11. Must possess excellent time management and organizational skills to provide support in an effective and efficient manner
12. Commitment, adaptability, and the ability to effective manage multiple tasks
SCHEDULE:
1. Full-Time, Monday – Friday, Day shift including occasional O/T requirements that may be required during the week and/or on weekends
LENGTH: Permanent
