Company Overview
We are a North Toronto, mid-sized law firm, located on the Yonge subway line, offering a congenial work environment, state-of-the-art technology and excellent salary and benefits. Immediate opening available for a Reconciliations Clerk to join our accounting department on a permanent, full-time basis.
Duties
· Responsible for daily bank reconciliation of trust accounts, project trust accounts and operating accounts
· Investigates and resolves unreconciled items, notifying financial institutions and the accounting group of any banking errors
· Responsible for daily verification of transaction records, informing corresponding groups of any posting errors
· Daily follow up on outstanding items and transaction corrections
· Responsible for daily review and reconciliation of any returned items and bank correction transactions
· Review of interest transaction and follow up with corresponding banks regarding any missing items/discrepancies
· Review of investment transactions to ensure accurate posting
· Completes reconciliations within agreed timeframes
· Handles various types of sub-ledger transactions, ensuring they are reconciled correctly
· Completes reconciliation of corporate credit card statement accounts
· Responsible for daily and monthly GL reconciliation of all bank accounts
· Posting of adjusting journal entries as applicable and/or instructed
· Assisting with preparation of Budget and variance analysis
· Assisting with preparation of month-end and year-end documents
· Flexible, eager to use new accounting software and accounting tools
· Daily electronic filing of reconciliation documents
Qualifications
· Min. 5 years reconciliations experience; law firm experience an asset
· Demonstrated ability to perform job duties with minimal supervision
· Accounting Diploma or Certificate required
· Experience working with an enterprise-wide accounting system (Elite would be ideal, but will train);
· Strong analytical abilities and problem-solving skills
· Familiarity with accounting principles, practices and procedures
· Adaptability to change
· Proficient in Excel
· Familiar with Microsoft Office, including Word and Outlook
· High accuracy and attention to detail
· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, thriving in a team environment
