Job Overview:
As a Human Resources Generalist, you will be instrumental in shaping a positive workplace culture and aligning HR practices across Avron, Louise Kool & Galt and Bridges Canada. This Ontario-based role supports our corporate values, ensuring employees thrive in a collaborative, engaging environment.
In partnership with our HR corporate team in Quebec, you will support the implementation corporate strategies while tailoring them to local needs. Your role includes supporting recruitment, employee relations, workplace safety, and compliance while promoting organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Recruitment and Onboarding:
- Collaborate with managers on recruitment, screening, interviews, and onboarding.
- Ensure seamless employee setup in HR and payroll systems.
Employee Relations and Development:
- Serve as the first point of contact for employee concerns, resolving workplace issues promptly.
- Coordinate and lead performance reviews, supporting career development and improvement plans.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to employees and managers to ensure constructive feedback aligns with organizational objectives.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Oversee payroll, including ROEs, T4s, and RRSP contributions.
- Assist in developing and managing HR budgets for compensation, benefits, and training.
Compliance and Workplace Safety:
- Manage WSIB claims and guide employees through the return-to-work process.
- Ensure compliance with provincial labour laws and workplace safety standards.
- Work with the Joint Health and Safety Committee to implement safety audits and resolve health and safety concerns.
Policy and Training:
- Review and update HR policies annually to maintain compliance.
- Conduct mandatory training on safety and harassment prevention.
- Ensure policies are clearly communicated and understood.
Employee Engagement:
- Lead the social committee to plan team-building activities, holiday parties, and other morale-boosting events.
Reporting and Data Management:
- Create HR reports on key metrics, providing insights for leadership to inform workforce planning.
Liaison with Leadership and Legal Counsel:
- Act as the HR contact for senior leadership, head office, and employment lawyers to address HR strategy, compliance, and complex employee matters.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 2-3 years in HR roles, with expertise in recruitment, employee relations, and compliance.
- CHRP/CHRL designation (or in progress) preferred.
- Strong knowledge of provincial employment laws and regulations.
- Experience supporting multi-division HR operations across industries is an asset.
- Proficiency in MS Office and HRIS systems.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with a proactive approach.
