Job Description: Payroll Administrator (12-Month Contract)
Location: Montreal, QC or Ottawa, ON
Duration: Fixed Term - 12 Months
About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Administrator to support our in-house payroll operations. This role will focus on bi-weekly Canadian payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, compliance with laws, and providing exceptional support to employees and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Process in-house bi-weekly Canadian payroll, including tasks such as final pay processing, retroactive payments, and tax balancing.
- Prepare and issue year-end documentation, including T4s and RL1s.
- Manage payroll adjustments, including overpayment collections, benefits balancing, deduction setup, and arrears.
- Respond promptly and effectively to payroll inquiries from employees and internal business units, delivering exceptional customer service.
- Maintain accurate and organized backup documentation for audit purposes.
- Support additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
- Proven expertise in Canadian payroll calculations and compliance with payroll laws.
- Demonstrated ability to manage in-house payroll processing with a high degree of accuracy.
- Proven capability to resolve payroll inquiries quickly and effectively.
- Strong adaptability to new systems and computer software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience in calculating gross-to-net paychecks.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Commitment to delivering outstanding customer service.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Current or prior Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) credentials.
- Experience with PeopleSoft Payroll Platform.
- A minimum of 5 years of payroll administration experience.
Working Conditions
This position offers the flexibility to work remotely, though candidates based in Montreal, QC or Ottawa, ON are preferred.
