Job Opportunity: PART TIME Bookkeeper for Dental Office (Accounts Receivables & Payables)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Dental Office Accountant to manage the financial operations of our dental practice, focusing on accounts receivable (AR) and accounts payable (AP). The ideal candidate will ensure accurate financial reporting, efficient billing, timely payments, and compliance with financial policies, contributing to the smooth operation of the practice.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Receivable (AR):
- Manage patient and insurance billing, ensuring accurate and timely invoicing.
- Process payments from patients and insurance providers, including cash, checks, and electronic transfers.
- Reconcile daily receipts and deposit records with bank statements.
- Monitor overdue accounts, send reminders, and coordinate collection efforts as necessary.
- Maintain accurate patient financial records and insurance claim updates in the practice management software.
Accounts Payable (AP):
- Process vendor invoices, verify accuracy, and ensure timely payments.
- Reconcile monthly statements with vendors to resolve discrepancies.
- Monitor recurring expenses like utilities, subscriptions, and lease payments.
- Ensure compliance with payment schedules and manage cash flow to meet financial obligations.
- Maintain organized records of all invoices and payment transactions.
General Accounting Duties:
- Prepare and review financial reports, including AR/AP aging reports.
- Assist with budget planning, forecasting, and expense tracking.
- Collaborate with the dental office manager and external accountants for financial audits and tax filings.
- Stay updated on dental billing codes, insurance regulations, and accounting best practices.
Team Collaboration:
- Coordinate with front office staff to ensure seamless patient billing workflows.
- Communicate effectively with insurance providers and vendors to address payment or billing issues.
- Provide financial insights to management for decision-making.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred.
- Experience:
- 2+ years of experience in accounting, in a dental setting.
- Knowledge of dental billing software (e.g., Open Dental) and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks).
- Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial management.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial tools.
Key Competencies:
- Familiarity with dental insurance claims, billing codes, and compliance standards.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.
- Strong analytical skills for managing AR/AP and identifying financial discrepancies.
