Target Compensation: From $44 per hour to $64 per hour, with some flexibility according to experience.
Regular Work Hours: FULL TIME HOURS; 7.25 hours per day not including 1 hour unpaid lunch break, to be worked during regular business hours, Monday to Friday (36.25 work hours per week).
Work Location: 100% onsite at client's mid town Toronto office.
Position Reports To: Payroll Implementation Manager.
Responsibilities Summary:
To provide leadership, advice and expertise on implementation of new payroll system, supporting the operational and strategic goals of the organization, and ensuring compliance with employment legislation and payroll best practices.
- Lead and facilitate workshops with cross-functional teams to define business and system specifications, ensuring system configurations meet organization's payroll requirements.
- Collaborate with IT vendor to configure and validate solutions, ensuring all technical needs and requirements are met.
- Support establishment of processes, directions, financial policy and program frameworks for financial, audit and payroll activities, and lead the design, development, implementation, and monitoring of payments, payroll processing and periodic reporting.
- Provide guidance on payroll and operational processes to ensure compliance with financial directives and standards, statutory and legislative requirements, and internal controls best practices.
- Modify policies, procedures, and practices to ensure compliance with new or amended legislative and regulatory requirements related to privacy and other payroll compliance matters.
- Provide guidance, support, and advice to team members on payroll procedures such as statutory deductions, T4's, and ROE's, and act as a resource for any complex payroll administration matters.
- Support data migration activities, including data transformation, extraction, and cleaning.
- Support system integration and end-user testing activities, including identifying test scenarios and validating test results to ensure specifications, requirements and acceptance criteria are met.
- Provide project management support and report on status of assigned activities during the project lifecycle.
- Support product demonstration and end user training and documentation.
- Additional payroll system implementation activities and advisory responsibilities as required.
Qualifications:
Education: Post Secondary Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Computer Science, Business Administration or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Professional Credentials: Completion of Canadian Payroll Association Certification Program, with Payroll Leadership Professional (PLP) certification awarded or in view.
Preferred Work Experience: At least 5+ years full cycle payroll and payroll audit experience, including full cycle payroll system implementation project experience.
Leadership Skills: Proven team or project leadership skills to provide operational and functional guidance and advice to internal and external stakeholders.
Technical and Language Skills Requirements:
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel or similar spreadsheet-processing software, including data querying and advanced data analysis techniques, working with large data sets to complete complex variance analysis for financial audits, data imports and exports, and year-end payroll reconciliations (may be tested).
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and financial and payroll applications and systems.
- Excellent English communication skills, including strong business writing and technical writing skills, and excellent verbal communication skills suitable for presenting complex subject matter to a diverse range of audiences, including senior leadership.
Task -Based Qualifications and Additional Attributes:
- Strong previous experience with payroll system implementations and upgrades.
- Demonstrated experience and in-depth knowledge of payroll rules, practices and legislation.
- Demonstrated knowledge of payroll plans, payroll systems and software, relevant tax regulations, procedures, and processes, with the ability to process a complex, bi-weekly payroll.
- Demonstrated record of professional conduct and character. Responsible, reliable and works to deadlines.
- Proven ability to professionally handle confidential information and exercise good judgement in the interpretation and application of instructions and organization policy.
- Demonstrated ability to apply project management principles, methodologies and best practices.
- Strong relationship management skills including client and vendor relations management, business networking, negotiation, change management and consulting/advisory skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work well both independently and collaboratively, and in an advisory capacity, and liaise effectively with a wide and diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be available for an onsite interview the week of December 16, 2024.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada, providing satisfactory documentation upon request.
- Ability to work 100% onsite, abiding by organization health and safety policies.
- Ability to declare personal Non-Conflict of Interest in execution of assignment responsibilities.
- Provision of certification of AODA and OHSA online training course completion prior to assignment start.
