Position Title: Accountant
Department: Finance and Accounting
Entity: CS e-STORAGE
Reports To: Finance Controller
Location: Kitchener, ON (Hybrid)
Job Summary:
The Accountant will support the Finance Department and CS e-STORAGE by ensuring payments are completed and expenses are controlled. Responsibilities include receiving payments, processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices according to established policies and procedures in an efficient, timely, and accurate manner. This role will also be responsible for project accounting duties.
Responsibilities:
- Verify vendor invoices, ensuring all details are correct (date, due date, invoice number, description, amount, currency, GL account, and department) and process vendor payments on time. Assist with DOA approvals if limits are exceeded on pay requisitions.
- Handle all employee expenses through Concur, ensuring accuracy and appropriateness.
- Prepare project invoices per contract terms; monitor project billings against budgets and follow up on collections, proactively working with Project Managers to resolve issues.
- Reconcile monthly project WIP and conduct monthly WIP review meetings with Project Managers.
- Perform monthly project revenue recognition and ensure timely and accurate project closeouts.
- Prepare annual AOP, monthly management reports, and other ad hoc reports as required.
- Assist with SOX audits, external financial statements preparation, government audits, and corporate tax filings.
- Support other regions and undertake additional ad hoc tasks as needed.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (preferred) or Finance, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 2+ years’ experience in accounting.
- Experience with a Big 4 accounting firm is a plus.
- Proficiency in SAP preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Flexible, with solid interpersonal skills for effective teamwork in a diverse environment.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- High attention to detail.
- Ability to perform well under pressure and meet deadlines.
