Reporting to the Controller the Senior Accountant, Accounting and Treasury ensures assigned areas of the month end reporting are complete and supported by detailed schedules. that global bank accounts are monitored and reconciled daily, the regional accounting and operations teams are adequately supported and oversees general cash flow worldwide. The Senior Accountant, Accounting and Treasury follows processes, policies and procedures, and works closely with the Accounts Receivables, Accounts Payables and Client operations teams to ensure accurate and timely movement and reporting of cash in the accounting system. The Senior Accountant, Accounting and Treasury will work with various team members in a collaborative environment to improve business processes, training materials, data clean-up, and provide on-going support.
This position’s location hybrid and can be based is in Mississauga or Toronto Canada.
Responsibilities Senior Account function
- Provide support to the Finance team and other internal departments with complex accounting matters.
- Understand the sources of revenue and costs and capex activity in the assigned divisions;
- Reconcile intercompany balances and investments and support consolidation process
- Focus analytics on the cost structure within the divisions to ensure controllable costs are being managed optimally and within budgets
- Completes external audit by analyzing and scheduling general ledger accounts; providing information for auditors.
- Prepare documents and financial information for external and internal stakeholders as required.
Treasury Analyst function
- Point of contact for capital transaction and leasing
- Responsible for capital lease accounting and capex reporting.
- Responsible for cash management, with a focus on continuous improvement of cash flow and foreign currency strategies. Various cash and liquidity forecast reporting as assigned.
- Prepare documents and financial information for external and internal stakeholders as required.
- Assisting with month end close, making sure all transactions are recorded and banks reconciled timely.
- Participates in weekly and monthly meetings with management to communicate treasury topics and issues. Prepares relevant information, analysis, and suggestions. Tracks action items from the meetings and provides follow ups.
- Be a part of internal systems evolution, with a proactive and client-centric approach.
- Adhoc financial reporting and finance projects as required.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field; CPA designation is preferred
- Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in a finance environment
- Multi-currency experience would be advantageous.
- Great Excel knowledge is required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Data driven person, must be detail oriented with an eye for mistakes
- Good organizational, time management, customer service skills
- Ability to work well as part of a team, but also lead, mentor and grow staff
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
