The Revenue Accountant works closely with operations and other revenue cycle partners in completing recurring administrative revenue cycle duties and tasks as well as supporting a resolution of obstacles to billing. The ideal candidate should have prior collaborative experience with the accounting & finance teams. Experience with software companies and Revenue Recognition would be an asset. This is a Hybrid role from our office in Markham, ON reporting to the Revenue Manager.
Responsibilities
- Enter & review sales orders in ERP/Contract Revenue Management System; ensure customer account and billing information are current and orders are consistent with terms as agreed to by customer/partner.
- Review work processed by other revenue accountants to ensure proper amounts are billed, and revenue dates are consistent with contracts signed.
- Set up new customers with proper sales tax coding and billing items.
- Resolve invoice inquires from internal and external customers
- Leading role in resolving billing system and processing issues
- Ensure revenue recognition is according to IFRS 15
- Work closely with stakeholders as business partners to the business unit
- Oversee monthly revenue reconciliation and work with stakeholders to ensure results are to expectation
- Timely reconciliation of Unbilled and Deferred Revenue schedules by customer
- Oversee monthly revenue reconciliation to ensure results are to expectation
- Monitor open work orders for business unit
- Quarterly and annual external audit processes
- Regularly monitor billings backlog to ensure installment-based billings remain current and coordinate with Operations for discrepancies.
- Assist manager with monthly revenue and act as team lead to ensure other members are in alignment of the timeline
- Prepare and complete other projects and tasks that may be required from time-to-time
Qualifications And Experience
- 2+ years of work experience in a multi-currency, multi-division environment
- 3+ years of relevant order processing experience, in a Billing or Order Management environment
- Experience with Great Plains and Salesforce is an asset
- Experience in SaaS or Software industry is an asset
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness
- Advanced Excel skills are preferred
- Proven ability to multi-task, problem solve, handle high volumes and prioritize workload, while working independently.
