Job Purpose
This role will work closely with the Vice-President and President to help create, guide and analyze Financials and have a strong background in cost management experience and play a vital role in analysis to the Lead Team. The Controller will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the financial results as reported through the cost and inventory systems. This position will focus on developing and maintaining accurate budgets, as well as collecting, analyzing, and reporting on cost information to support improved decision-making.
This is a key leadership role requiring strong communication skills and the ability to understand performance through financial metrics. From creating budgets, building capital and business case requests, monthly and quarterly operating reviews, to helping and optimize business growth, this position is multi-faceted.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Operation of the Accounting Department
- Develop and implement the financial policies, systems and procedures of an establishment
- Evaluate financial reporting systems, accounting procedures and investment activities and make recommendations for changes to procedures, operating systems, budgets and other financial control functions to senior managers and other department or regional managers
- Communicate financial metrics to senior management
- Prepare monthly and annual operating budgets
- Provide leadership and support to accounts receivable and accounts payable departments
- Manage the preparation of payroll for personnel
- Prepare or coordinate the preparation of financial statements, summaries, and other cost-benefit analyses and financial management reports
- Coordinate the financial planning and budget process, and analyze and correct estimates
- Supervise the development and implementation of financial simulation models
- Establish profitability standards for investment activities and handle mergers and/or acquisitions
- Notify and report to senior management concerning any trends that are critical to the organization's financial performance.
- Lead comprehensive cost accounting initiatives, including variance analysis and strategic inventory valuation, to ensure precision in product costing.
- Manage inventory across the manufacturing unit, implementing systems to optimize stock levels and reduce excess while ensuring seamless production flow and financial alignment.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting and/or 5+ years related experience
- Accounting designation (CPA, CMA, CGA or CA)
- The successful candidate will be a “hands on” senior accountant with an operational background
- Must be able to analyze financial statements, interpret KPI’s, generate semi-monthly forecasts and annual budgets
- Must be able to analyze results and work with operations managers to identify and implement improvements
- Superior communication and teamwork skills
- A background in production industry would be an asset
- Knowledge of NetSuite would be an asset
- Ability to work closely with a senior management team
