Staff Accountant
The Alberta Classical Academy is now accepting applications for the position of Staff Accountant based at our Central Office in Calgary, Alberta.
The Alberta Classical Academy is one of Alberta’s newest and fastest growing charter school districts. In the 2024/25 school year, we will serve approximately 1250 students in grades K-9 across three campuses, two in Calgary and one in Edmonton.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Secretary Treasurer, the Staff Accountant holds a CPA designation and provides support for the maintenance and compliance with internal financial and accounting policies and procedures and supports the drafting of annual financial statements and interim financial reports.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review procedures and evaluate accounting practices to improve services and accuracy
- Complete monthly bank reconciliations
- Support budgeting and planning process
- Support the external audit function
- Oversee external payroll provider
- Draft quarterly financial reports
- Support the drafting of annual financial statements and corporate tax returns
- Other duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Required:
- A degree in accounting or finance
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
- 3+ years’ successful experience in an accounting position in a small or medium sized organization
Preferred:
- Previous experience in the education sector or public accounting firm considered an asset
