Job Overview:
Reporting to the Controller, you are an experienced Payroll Manager who can lead our payroll department and ensure the accurate and timely processing of payroll for our employees. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and have extensive knowledge of payroll systems, particularly ADP Workforce, and will be responsible for managing payroll operations, compliance, and reporting. This is an in-person role 5 days a week in Etobicoke. If this sounds like you, then we look forward to welcoming you to our team!
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including General Managers and executive management, to ensure smooth payroll operations.
- Oversee the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for all employees.
- Lead the transition to ADP Workforce, including onboarding and eliminating manual processes, while utilizing ADP for payroll processing, reporting, and analytics.
- Manage payroll for multiple union groups, including the collection of monthly remittances.
- Oversee the defined contribution plan and manage the monthly remittance of premiums for the company’s benefits plan.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
- Prepare and analyze payroll reports to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for process improvements.
- Collaborate with HR and finance teams to ensure accurate employee records and benefit deductions.
- Address payroll-related inquiries and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Develop and maintain payroll policies and procedures to improve operational efficiency.
- Stay current with changes in payroll laws and regulations, implementing necessary updates to payroll processes.
- Train and mentor payroll staff to ensure accuracy and adherence to best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation or similar certification is a plus.
- Proven experience as a Payroll Manager or in a similar role, with strong knowledge of payroll processes and regulations.
- Experience managing payroll in a multi-provincial environment.
- Proficiency in ADP Workforce and other payroll software systems.
- In-depth understanding of payroll tax laws, compliance regulations, and reporting requirements.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to influence and negotiate with internal stakeholders to drive change management initiatives.
