AP & AR Assistant
About the Job
Reporting to the Supervisor, the AP & AR Assistant is responsible for performing tasks related to accounts payable and accounts receivable under supervisory guidance. This role requires delivering high-quality service efficiently, ensuring accuracy in financial processing. The AP & AR Assistant will also serve as a backup for both AP and AR functions, supporting continuity and reliability in these essential areas.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Process vendor invoices after detailed review of backup documents.
- Initiate bank payments to vendors based on due dates to comply with credit terms.
- Reconcile auxiliary sub-ledgers with the general ledger.
- Assist in reviewing and posting invoices to customers.
- Send weekly statements to customers.
- Assist with audits by providing required supporting documentation.
- Manage and maintain efficient and accurate filing.
- Collaborate closely with other departments to liaise and share information.
- Support in filing GST/HST returns.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2–3 years of experience working in accounts payable/receivable.
- Experience in the food industry is an asset.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., Business Central) is an asset.
- Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
Skills
- Strong sense of responsibility and accountability.
- Experience working in AR and AP departments.
- Solid knowledge of manufacturing accounting, including standard costing, inventory valuation, and cycle counting.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to work independently.
- Basic knowledge of direct, indirect, and payroll taxes.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple simultaneous assignments.
- Highly structured, analytical, and detail-oriented.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
- Good interpersonal skills.
