All Seniors Care Living Centers is seeking a Senior Payroll Analyst to join our team in downtown Toronto.
The Senior Payroll Analyst is responsible for the accurate and timely preparation and processing of weekly payroll for union, non-union, hourly, and salaried employees. Key duties include reviewing and approving timesheets, managing garnishments and deductions, issuing required payroll documents (T4s, ROEs, etc.), and ensuring compliance with payroll regulations. The role involves preparing GL journal entries, analyzing payroll variances, and collaborating with the finance team on reconciliations and labor cost analysis. The Payroll Specialist also assists in year-end reporting, maintains employee records, and serves as the primary contact for payroll inquiries. Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, excellent attention to detail, and effective teamwork are essential. A Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification or working towards it is an asset.
Duties/responsibilities:
- Responsible for the preparation and processing of weekly payroll for Union, Non Union hourly and salaried employees
- Ensure all data files are complete and approved for transmission to payroll service provider.
- Review and ensure accuracy of approved timesheets and other input documents.
- Track and enter all garnishments and other special payroll deductions.
- Administer the issuance of T4’s, ROE’s, T2200, and various payroll reports as requested.
- Ensure that all salaries/wages are paid accurately and in accordance with regulations in a timely manner.
- Preparation of GL journal entries; translation of payroll data into meaningful finance/management reports.
- Comparison and investigation of payroll variances on the financial statement.
- Assist the Finance team with payroll bank reconciliation, labor cost analysis, GL coding adjustments and other allocations.
- Collaborate with HR and other departments to ensure payroll and other personnel records are accurate and up to date.
- Assist in the preparation of year end reports and filing of all annual returns with federal/provincial governments.
- Prioritize tasks to ensure deadlines are met.
- Maintain employee records confidential.
- Be the main point of contact for all payroll related inquiries.
- Work with other team members to coordinate responsibilities, and prioritize tasks, ensuring all-important deadlines are met.
Qualifications
- PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) or working towards is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of legislation and ESA cross Canada
- Proficiency with Excel.
- 5+ years of experience working in payroll.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, problem-solving abilities.
- Must be able to work effectively in a team setting, a dedicated team player.
- Able to work within tight payroll deadlines.
- Emphasis on attention to detail and strong numeracy skills.
- Excellent planning, organization, and time management skills.
