We are seeking a motivated leader who can develop innovative strategies that enable clients to streamline processes, maximize efficiencies and minimize tax liability. You must be willing to handle multiple projects for our Oakville location while utilizing prioritization skills and a sense of urgency.
Hours
The Tax Manager is expected to be in office from 9:00am-5:30pm Monday to Friday. These hours are expected to increase during tax season.
Job Responsibilities
· Prepare personal, corporate, partnership and trust income tax returns
· Work on tax planning engagements for owner managed Canadian domestic clients
· Play a key role in managing the processes and procedures during tax season
· Draft correspondence for internal use, for client engagements as well as with tax authorities
· Working with accounting staff in the preparation of the legal entity financial statements.
· Identify technical issues, research, propose and implement solutions
· Participate in the analysis of new legislation and implementing planning ideas for our clients
· Prepare and present professional development seminars
· Coach and mentor staff and delegate assignments, and provide advice and support to team members
· Actively participate in all engagement phases including budget, analysis of work-in-progress, drafting of invoices and management of accounts receivables
· Solve client problems and introduce clients to new tax planning strategies
· Management and payment of tax installments
· Market the firm’s services
· Serving as a liaison to CRA and other taxation authorities on assessments, audits and other administrative matters
Competencies
· A minimum of 3 years’ experience working in tax within a public accounting firm.
· Experience with owner managed clients and mid-size companies
· Excellent written and verbal communication in English
· Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients or other parties
· Ability to solve practical and complex problems
· Research and information gathering skills
· Organizational skills for prioritizing demands, workflow and meeting deadlines
· Must have a strong commitment to quality
· Ability to take a leadership role on engagements
· Solid understanding of business professionalism and the ability to work in a team environment
· Completion of or progress towards a recognized accounting designation is considered an asset
· Knowledge of Jet Pack, Quickbooks, Caseware is preferred
· Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Excel and Word)
Education Requirements
· University Degree in related field
Compensation Range
· $70,000-$80,000
· Group Insurance Benefits after 3-month probation
