About the Job
We invite you to embark on an exciting journey to join the Flybits team as the Manager, Finance, working in a hybrid setting from our Toronto office for three days a week. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in shaping our financial strategies, leading the annual budget process, and managing the accounting functions. Reporting directly to the President, you’ll ensure the quality and security of financial records, support financial reporting, and manage audit processes. We are looking for a proactive leader who thrives in a dynamic environment, bringing precision, analytical skills, and innovative thinking to every aspect of our financial operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the annual budget process and lead the company’s accounting and financial close functions.
- Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing and reporting of financial results, including transaction reviews and reconciliations.
- Support the annual audit process in collaboration with auditors.
- Prepare comprehensive financial reports, including internal weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting and statements.
- Develop and implement accounting policies and improved internal control processes.
- Manage banking relationships and oversee SR&ED claims.
- Support senior management in grant applications.
- Participate in strategic business planning and contribute to operational initiatives.
- Mentor and lead a financial analyst, fostering professional growth.
Must-Have Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification
- 4+ years of professional experience in finance or accounting management
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations
- Proven ability to lead budgeting and forecasting processes
- Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail
- Experience with payroll, with the preference being on Ceridian Dayforce
Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
- Experience in technology or a startup environment.
