Mulvey & Banani is a Toronto-based engineering consulting firm providing comprehensive and integrated building systems engineering services for electrical and electronic systems that are innovative, resilient, and adaptable for new building construction and re-purposing/renovation of existing buildings.
About the Role: Reporting to the Controller, the Accountant will play a critical role in the execution of all financial operations, including full cycle accounting, reporting, records maintenance, and developing a comprehensive set of controls to ensure accuracy and data integrity. The ideal candidate is independently motivated and highly experienced individual, with strong work ethic, hands-on approach, capable of adapting to a rapidly changing environment and possessing open, effective, and proactive communication skills.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Assisting with month end, quarter end and year end close process including related journal entries, account reconciliations and working papers.
- Responsible for assigned project accounting duties - invoicing, accounts receivable, payments and reporting.
- Continuously analyze current automation of the accounting and reporting process and present improvement suggestions.
- Ownership of ad-hoc projects and analysis to support business decision making and mitigate risks.
Education/Qualifications:
- CPA or in the final stages of designation.
- 3+ years of overall general accounting experience in a private company setting or equivalent experience with a public accounting firm.
- Project accounting experience is an asset.
Skills and Abilities:
- Detail oriented, organized and able to meet tight deadlines.
- Strong financial acumen and analytical agility.
- Self-motivated, results driven and prefers to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong capabilities in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with Deltek Vision (portfolio ERP application) is an asset but not required.
