Job Overview:
We are seeking a competent and dedicated Accounting & Payroll Instructor to join our team at Dalwin College’s Markham location. This will be a hybrid or in-person role. The ideal candidate will have previous experience teaching adults and be passionate about helping mature students achieve their goals.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for preparing and delivering lectures and presentations.
- Prepare Administrative Course syllabi and Master Course Outline (hand in two weeks prior to Week 1)
- Instruct students in class and practice room.
- Leading and moderating classroom discussions.
- Prepare, administer and mark tests and papers to evaluate students' progress.
- Advise students on program curricula and career decisions.
- Deliver the curriculum as per the course syllabus including theory and practical training
- Develop and prepare various teaching methods as appropriate for the various course topics
- Create lessons, teaching materials
- Prepare, administer and grade evaluation criteria to assess student progress
- Evaluating student performance fairly and consistently
- Responsible for grading books, final grade sheets, and file copies of final exams within 72 hours of the last class session
- Helping students with resume preparation
- Staying current with changes in your field
- Be familiar with the College’s most current Policy and Procedure manual
Qualifications:
- A minimum 1-3 years experience in teaching and curriculum development at the post-secondary level;
- Bachelor or Master’s in accounting, finance or business
- Member in good standing of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada is an asset
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and other accounting software
- Proficiency with Teams or Zoom Classroom is an asset.
- Experience in a relevant professional experience or business background required;
- Excellent communications and interpersonal skills;
- Demonstrable ability to convey the conceptual and applied aspects of knowledge to a broad range of students;
- Committed to excellence in teaching and learning
- Fluent and proficient in English (spoken and written)
