Laurel Steel, located in Burlington is looking to add the right candidates to fill the role of Accounts Payable Clerk. This position reports to the Accounting Manager and will be responsible for a variety of day-to-day financial tasks. The ideal candidate would love the process of continuous learning and personal growth, take initiative, provide exemplary customer service, and be a team player.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Understand the importance of internal and external customer service with excellent written and oral communication skills
- Process daily banking - update and report every morning
- Maintain the company's relationship with vendors by monitoring, verifying, and processing invoices for both Canadian and U.S. vendors
- Address payment and billing concerns with vendors, making sure payments are made during the agreed timeline
- Create and manage vendor accounts, including their legal documentation
- Match invoices with purchase orders with its invoices
- Make sure invoices are correctly coded to the appropriate general ledger accounts
- Create and process cheques, ACH payments, and electronic transfers
- Monitor and adjust accounts payable transactions following accurate company policies
- Aid in preparing month-end and year-end closing activities
- Assist in preparing audit documentation and addressing auditor inquiries
- Daily Banking Reporting

Requirements
- High School Diploma or an equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of experience in accounts payable
- Knowledge of Accounting principles, practices, and procedures
- Excellent knowledge of Canadian and U.S. tax regulations within accounts payable
- Experience with cross-border transactions
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to work both independently and as a team
- Strong analytical, organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must
- Excellent time management skills to meet various internal and external deadlines
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Ability to work overtime when needed to meet deadlines
Preferred Requirements:
- Previous accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365
- Post-secondary education in accounting or finance
