We are a small business in the Electrical Industry in Atlantic Canada. We have been in business since 1988 and are Independent Manufacturers Representatives. We cover the 4 Atlantic Provinces for both Commercial and Industrial Manufacturers. Our main business Partners are Electrical Wholesalers. We interact regularly with all Electrical Industry segments including but not limited to Federal & Provincial Government departments, Engineering Firms, Utilities, Contractors, Safety, etc.
We are currently looking for an experienced finance/accounting person to join our company.
This would be someone capable of managing all financial duties with accuracy, a minimum of supervision and maintaining the upmost of confidentiality for a small sized company. A proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word programs would be an asset.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Cash management, General Journal, General Ledger, Financial Statements, administer our Group Benefits Plan, reconcile monthly Manufacturers Sales/Commissions Reports, reconcile monthly BMO Bank and Mastercard accounts, and any other administrative or clerical duties as required.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
· College Diploma in Accounting, Commerce or Finance.
· Minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible technical accounting support experience as a financial or accounting clerk
· Excellent verbal and written communication skill
· Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
· Financial administration and service
· General office bookkeeping
· Accounts payable and accounts receivable support
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Normal work week is 40 hours/week, 8 hours/day, 8:00 -5:00 with a one-hour unpaid lunch break.
- Position is located within HRM in a comfortable office setting using a computer which involves intermittent distractions from incoming inquiries via telephone, and email, and typical office noise.
- You will perform the majority of your duties with limited supervision and, therefore, must have strong initiative and good judgement work according to
· priorities and deadlines, and an understanding of where to direct calls and inquires.
· Organization and time management skills are essential to this role. You must readily accept responsibilities, establish effective working relationships, and effectively handle matters with discretion, confidentiality, tact and diplomacy.
