What you’ll be doing:
- Data analysis and reporting to support decision making across the organization
- Participating in period end close process including journaling transactions into the system.
- Analysis and preparation of financial statements and monthly departmental variance reports, including detailed salary analysis
- Month end journals and account reconciliations
- Provide exceptional customer service and accounting expertise to cross-functional areas
- Assist with the year-end external audit process, preparation of relevant working papers, responding to audit queries and information requests
- Continuous process improvement and work flow efficiencies across the finance department
- Participate in system improvements and/or new system implementation
- Support the annual budget process and all ancillary reporting
- Accurate & timely Ministry reporting including quarterly MIS submissions, quarterly Ontario Health reports, ad hoc requests
- Support senior management with special projects and other financial analysis as required
What we’re looking for:
- Two plus years of relevant accounting, data analysis and financial reporting experience, healthcare knowledge is an asset
- Ability to demonstrate superior Excel knowledge for advanced data manipulation and analysis
- University degree or College diploma in a related field
- Completion of, or close to completing an accounting designation (CPA, CMA, ACCA etc).
- Experience with either AS400, Microsoft Dynamics 365 or Sage is considered an asset
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to discuss observations of financial information with all levels
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and meet strict deadlines
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to analyze problems, identify solutions and implement the recommended course of action
- Proven ability to work independently and as a team member
