Amsterdam Brewery is looking to hire a Junior Financial Analyst to help support our Brewery Operations. This role is a key support role within the Finance group who will help drive key initiatives and functional support across the organization. They will perform a variety of tasks and responsibilities that drive accurate, timely and informative financial and operational analysis for the Canadian organization. The incumbent will provide financial support and guidance to commercial and operational decisions, while complying with all Company, government and legal requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Analysis:
- Ensure accurate and appropriate recording of financial activities across key areas (brewing, production, commercial operations).
- Prepare inventory Bills of Material, reconcile material usage to Budget, explain variances and reconcile monthly to General Ledger
- Support Departmental initiatives by providing accurate and timely analysis
Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Work with Department Managers to develop effective account analysis to track spending patterns, which will provide effective information for cost control and budget development
- Support material costing and labour analysis, helping to support the develop reasonable budgets and forecasts of Prime Costs (Material & Labour) and department spend
Inventory Management:
- Management of financial inventory records, ensuring proper recording of quantities and costs, analysis of both price and usage variance and provide reporting of same
- Development and maintenance of Bills of Material for all inventory items
- Work with production personnel to develop cost reduction strategies through waste reduction and effective supplier management
- Maintain active involvement regarding material contracts and supplier relationships working with Sales & Operations Planning Manager when negotiating pricing and volume contracts
Financial/ Account Analysis:
- Maintain up-to-date Account analysis to ensure proper analysis and action
- Work with all Managers to develop their financial acumen and by providing assistance in managing their departmental budgets and forecast
Skills & Experience
- Finance degree (progression towards post-graduate designation in Accounting advantageous), with 1-3 years overall finance experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment (and/or Distribution)
- Strong familiarity with accounting software to quickly develop functional understanding of Sage 300 Financial and Inventory modules, other systems
- Develop comprehensive knowledge of industry rules and regulations relating to Federal Excise Tax and Provincial Beer Taxes
- Solid problem solving skills to resolve issues that arise in a timely manner
