Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced (5+ years) and detail-oriented Senior Bookkeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in bookkeeping and accounting within the manufacturing and farming sectors as well as thorough understanding of Quickbooks. This role will involve administering full-cycle bookkeeping, managing payroll, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. The Senior Bookkeeper will also provide support and training to junior team members and work collaboratively with various departments to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records.

Key Responsibilities:
- Administer full-cycle bookkeeping, including recording sales, accounts receivable, expenses, accounts payable, payroll, and Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) transactions.
- Prepare and maintain payroll and related government remittances/filings.
- Perform month-end and quarter-end close processes, including preparation of financial statements.
- Maintain, monitor, and reconcile general ledger accounts, including cash, bank reconciliations, prepaid expenses, accounts receivable, accounts payable, accrued liabilities, and intercompany transactions.
- Calculate and prepare cheques for payroll and other payments.
- Calculate fixed assets and depreciation.
- Post journal entries and maintain general ledgers.
- Prepare T4s, T5s, Records of Employment, and other statutory filings.
- Prepare trial balances and other statistical, financial, and accounting reports.
- Reconcile accounts and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
- Identify issues and errors, investigate discrepancies, and develop resolutions in collaboration with supervisors or engagement partners.
- Communicate with government agencies regarding information requests, assessments, and installments.
- Liaise with clients and team members on administrative matters and provide functional advice.
- Provide support and training to junior bookkeeping team members.
- Monitor work in progress and file budgets; identify out-of-scope opportunities.
- Utilize cloud accounting software (e.g., QBO, Xero) and desktop software (e.g., QuickBooks Desktop, Sage 50) to maintain financial records.
Skills and Experience:
- Certificate or diploma in business administration, accounting, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of full-cycle bookkeeping experience.
- Experience in the beverage manufacturing and/or farming industry is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with cloud accounting software (e.g., QBO, Xero) and desktop accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Desktop, Sage 50).
- Experience preparing T4s, T5s, and Records of Employment.
- Strong working knowledge of basic accounting principles and processes.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work collaboratively and develop and maintain relationships with clients and team members.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and meet strict deadlines.
Education:
- Additional certifications in bookkeeping or accounting are considered an asset.
