Job Summary:
This position will manage Halton Chemical Inc’s day-to-day accounting and finance requirements, by overseeing our financial data and compliance. The job requires maintaining accurate accounts payable, receivable, payroll, financial entries, preparation of monthly financial statements, reconciliations, variance analysis, reporting and general ledger entries.
Ideal Candidate:
This position is about to become open as our long-time bookkeeper is retiring after 16 years with the company. We are looking for someone that wants to join our company for the long run. This job requires extensive financial experience with 10+ years of experience managing finances for a small business. This may be a great opportunity for someone re-entering the workforce or someone that already manages finances for another company on a part time basis. Our company is a stable, yet growing organization. This job will require knowledge of Canadian government remittances, WSIB and other regulatory filings.
Job Duties:
Maintain all financial records through defined bookkeeping policies, procedures and accepted accounting principles.
Maintain and balance general ledger by preparing a trial balance and reconciling entries.
Perform banking activities.
Maintain accounts payable.
Perform payroll functions for two companies.
Conducts monthly reconciliations of bank accounts and credit card accounts.
Prepare and reconcile EHT, HST and WSIB remittances and rebates.
Prepare monthly financial reports by collecting, analyzing, summarizing account information and trends.
Comply with federal and provincial filing remittances and reports.
Coordinate and assemble data for external audit process.
Maintains an orderly accounting filing system.
Respect privacy regarding confidential and sensitive information requiring diplomacy and discretion
Conducts her/himself as an intuitive self-starter and problem-solver, who is able to identify areas of need where his or her skills could support.
Attention to detail is paramount - As the primary accounting resource you will need to spot trends and recognize if numbers don't add up.
Qualifications:
Diploma/Degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of 10 years of proven accounting/bookkeeping experience, preferably in manufacturing or a small business setting.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
Experience with Easypay would be an asset.
Strong communication skills (written/oral).
Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work.
Able to deal with complexity and skilled multi-tasking.

Pay: $25 - $30/hour + benefits and profit-sharing bonus.

Flexible part-time, weekday hours of 20 – 24 hours per week depending on workload.
