The Opportunity:
As a member of our Accounts Receivable team, you will primarily be responsible for monitoring and managing clients’ accounts.
The ideal candidate will be proactive and technically savvy with high attention to detail.
Essential Duties:
Accounts Receivable
- Manage accounts receivable and incoming payments in compliance with firm policies and procedures, and specific client fee arrangements.
- Identify and investigate unapplied payments and allocate funds to appropriate client accounts.
- Prepare cheque deposits, process credit card payments and initiate credits and adjustments to accounts as necessary.
- Assist billing team with verifying the accuracy and completeness of specific client invoices, post them in the accounting system and maintain internal records using a document management system.
- Prepare, process and maintain clients trust transactions.
- Collaborate with internal teams to gather information in order to ensure records are accurate, complete and up to date.
- Assist with generating and sending statements of accounts to clients
- Prepare and process regular and ad hoc reports and generate A/R statements for internal and external use as required.
- Reconcile bank statements to bank ledger in our accounting system, Acumin.
Other
- Support and provide backup to accounting and collections efforts as required.
- Learn and use available technology to enhance work product including, but not limited to, Interaction, Zoom, ShareFile, Adobe, Acumin, Microsoft Office and Electronic Signatures.
- Maintain and update job skills and knowledge by participating in development opportunities within the firm.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- A background in Accounts Receivable, ideally in a professional services environment. Previous law firm experience is an asset.
- Working knowledge of general accounting principles and guidelines.
- Must be a highly organized self-starter who is solutions-oriented.
- Clear and concise written and verbal communication with excellent attention to detail.
- Technical proficiency and the proven ability to embrace and master upgraded, enhanced and/or new technologies.
- Success in managing competing deadlines and priorities while ensuring firm standards are upheld.
- Client-service-oriented with the ability to anticipate needs and proactively contribute to firm initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and recognize when to consult colleagues and/or support resources when appropriate.
