AEG is a Canada wide staffing agency with clients a wide variety of industries including manufacturing, aviation, sanitation, and construction. AEG is currently looking for a Payroll Specialist for our internal team. This role will be on-site based out of our Etobicoke office.
Responsibilities
- Preparation and processing of accurate and timely bi-weekly payrolls in compliance with the employment agreements and Canadian Revenue Agency guidelines
- Maintains the integrity of the payroll database in ADP Workforce Now, ensuring compliance with stablished procedures and internal controls
- Preparation of timely and accurate year end reporting (T4’s, etc.)
- Resolves employee and system issues and interfaces all payroll related issues
- Prepares accurate recording of payroll and allocations in ADP WFN
- Responsible for the accurate and timely reconciliation and reporting of payroll related remittances
- Responsible for issuing ROE’s
- Continuously monitor changes to federal and provincial legislation impacting payroll and advise management when action is required
- Ensure compliance with legislation and organizational policies and procedures
- Other ad-hoc duties including reporting and any other projects as required
- Cross trained as a back-up for timekeeping system
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
- Proven 3+ years of experience as a Payroll Specialist, with hands on experience submitting Payroll
- Strong knowledge of payroll processes, regulations, and best practices
- Proficiency in using payroll software (ADP)
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and calculations
- Familiarity with accounting principles and practices
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and integrity
- Strong analytical skills to analyze payroll data and identify discrepancies or issues
- Experience with account reconciliation, accounts payable, or accounts receivable is a plus
- Previous experience with year end reporting
- Excellent communication skills, written, orally, and verbally
- Knowledge of provincial and Canadian legislation
- Highly proficient in Excel
- Comfortable working in a busy office setting
- Previous experience working in a staffing agency is a bonus
