Role Description
Times Property Management is looking for a Junior Accountant to supporting financial and accounting activities for the condominium corporations that we serve. The Junior Accountant is responsible for the accurate recording of all accounting transactions and timely preparation of all financial statements. The Junior Accountant reports directly to the Head of Finance and is assigned a portfolio of properties managed by Times Property Management. To be considered for this position, you must have prior experience in general accounting and reporting. The Junior Accountant will work out of our head office location in Richmond Hill.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare and send monthly financial statements to condominium managers
- Prepare month-end bank reconciliations
- Review the accounting records/transactions and make correction/adjustments if necessary
- Post and process financial transactions in the accounting software
- Assist condominium managers in preparation of the annual budget
- Manage the monthly billing processes and related documents
- Work with our external auditors in their course of auditing, including preparation of audit documents and records, and posting audit adjustment entries
- Support the management team on internal financial reporting
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Successful completion of Post-Secondary Certificate / Diploma (one year or more) in Accounting
- 2+ years of experience in a general accounting field and in developing spreadsheets for financial analysis and reporting
- Intermediate to advance level Microsoft Excel / Word skills
- Ability of handling full cycle of accounting, including AP, AR, bank reconciliations, journal entries, month end and year end closing activities
- Familiarity with financial auditing processes
- Sound understanding of GAAP
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in English
- A driver’s license & access to a reliable vehicle is preferred
- Experience in property management environment is an asset
