Our client, a manufacturer located in the Chatham, ON area, is seeking a solutions-oriented Controller to join its team. Manufacturing experience is a must.
The Job:
- Supervise Accounting and Payroll team
- Preparation of sales and profitability forecasts & capital expenditure requests
- Review closing for timeliness and accuracy
- Prepare monthly comments on financial performance of the plant
- Develop justifications for Capital Investment projects
- Continuous Improvement of the Accounting Department and the services delivered to the internal and external customer
- Financial analysis of the plant to identify trends and recommendations to improve performance.
- Interface with internal and external auditors
- Recommend improvements to plant internal accounting controls and procedures.
- Responsible for development of overhead rates for inventory valuation and part quotations
- Maintain price lists by program for invoicing and revenue recognition.
- Set Up new product line routings including charge accounts.
- Coordinate annual physical inventory.
- Prepare annual business plan and supporting schedules.
- Work on special projects as assigned by Plant Manager
- Participate in formal improvement team activities. Support all departmental and organizational improvement initiatives to achieve business objectives.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in finance, accounting or related field or equivalent related experience and education
- Proficiency with financial software / ERP Systems
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing environment is essential
- Proven skills in supervising and training team members
- Proven understanding of GAAP
- Extensive knowledge of accounting principles with strong mathematical skills
- High degree of attention to detail and accuracy
- Professional demeanor in dealing with customers and fellow employees.
- Excellent communication, organization and time management skills
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
