CLASS III ACCOUNTS PAYABLE CLERK

This is a 12-month, full-time permanent position in the Secretary Treasurer’s Department.
Under the supervision of the Accountant, the Accounts Payable Clerk is responsible for processing invoices for payment in a computerized accounts payable/purchase order system. Applicant should be able to work well both independently and in a team environment. The successful candidate requires good organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to deal tactfully with staff and suppliers. Applicant is required to meet constant deadlines and adapt to changes in processes.
Duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
Processing invoices for payment, matching purchase order to invoice
Confirm goods receipt entry and resolve outstanding invoices and credit notes
Utilize intermediate excel skills to format and upload mass electronic billing data
Correctly determine and apply tax applications for purchases
Ability to acquire understanding of chart of accounts and confirm correct coding of purchases
Review of manual requests for reimbursement to assess accuracy, eligibility, proper authorization, correct coding, and perform follow-up as required
Generate, format and reconcile weekly school reimbursement reports
Process cheques and electronic funds transfers including upload and release of electronic funds transfer files
Follow-up with schools, department and vendors to ensure timely processing of Accounts Payable transactions
Assists with year end accruals for invoices and purchase orders
Support other Accounts Payable Clerks and School Clerks with Accounts Payable functions

Qualifications
Other duties as required
Complete secondary education with one-year relevant experience
Completion of one year accredited Accounting course
Knowledge and experience with accounting systems and procedures
Proficient in Microsoft Office Word at an intermediate level
Proficient in Excel at an intermediate level
Experience with Division software and Government of Manitoba FRAME Manual would be an asset
Proven ability to work independently and as part of team
Knowledge of Division policies and procedure is an asset
